The mid-2010 Mac Pro came equipped with a 1TB WD Black hard drive. Upgrading the system disk onto an SSD speeds up the system quite significantly, so here’s a short gallery on how to fit a 2.5" SSD to the Mac Pro.

The standard disk sled on the Mac Pro can only fit 3.5" drives using the four screw holes on the bottom. While 2.5" SSDs do come with adapters, they change the location of the SATA connector in relation to the disk sled, making the incompatible with the Mac Pro.

OWC has an alternative disk sled called Mount Pro 2.5 which solves this issue, providing correctly positioned mounting holes for 2.5" drives.
